Today we had our much-anticipated First Birthday Party for Michael! Last week's snowstorm forced us to have it today, which was fine except that Auntie Emmy couldn't be here. :(
After a wonderful lunch at Hu-Hot Mongolian Grill, we picked up a garbage disposal unit for the parsonage and had a nice afternoon of conversation and A B Seas (alphabet bingo fishing game).
When Michael got up from his nap, he opened his presents and played with the tissue paper and boxes. The shoe box from Great-Grandma fit nicely on his head. He really liked his new sippy cups, too!
For dinner, we had pulled pork sandwiches (thank you, Shawn in the Northwoods), green pickle potato salad (thank you, Grandma B), and crock pot baked beans (thank you, Grandma R). It is the kind of meal that you prepare at least a day in advance, which is so nice.
Michael's birthday cake was a Sunshine Lemon Cake (off the back of the lemon extract box) with buttercream frosting and Dots candies, baked in a bundt pan. We put a teal rubber ducky in the middle to top it off. I think it was a success, because Michael ended up with frosting in his eyelashes and a big grin on his face.
