Today was a perfect day for flying kites! The wind died down enough that we could go outside without being blown over, and the sun warmed us up so we could enjoy being out there. All three of our Easter kites made it into the sky quickly, and they stayed there, except for a few tangles/dives. After Michael's Nemo kite was all the way up in the sky, we tied the handle onto another big roll of kite string and used it up, too! That's the one that David is holding in the picture. Sarah's pink pony kite did some crashing, but lifted itself up when she started pulling on the string again. Michael enjoyed watching his fishie kite way up with the birds, but mostly splashed in the puddles. David was hoping to startle the migrating geese with his Bumblebee (Transformer robot-car) kite. Grandma R. had the most important job--chronicling the event on film.
We've never had such success with kites, especially Easter basket ones from the dollar store! It was a fantastic end to a big day of adventures at Grandma and Grandpa's.
