We visited the Capitol building in Pierre again this spring; this time it was when we were in town for the LWML retreat.
As usual, the children had a good time looking for special tiles on the floor.
A nice lady who works at the Capitol showed us some interesting features that we hadn’t noticed before.
Yes, there’s something strange about that column!
These big marble columns aren’t actually made of solid marble! They’re made of marble dust mixed with milk, yarn, and some other interesting things.
We didn’t get to talk with the governor this time, but we did visit the picture of former Governor Mike Rounds.
I especially enjoyed the beautiful artwork throughout the building.
We can even say that we learned a little about government by visiting both chambers of the state legislature! Here’s the Senate chamber, which has bigger desks than the House.
Of course, we had to end our visit with a picture by the statue of General Beadle. I don’t know why, but they really like this statue.
